Change to 2019/20 Season Ranking Criteria

NZIODA Committee have reviewed the 2018/19 season and in particular the ranking criteria. After this review and feedback it has received the Committee has deemed that the move to two (2) ranking regattas and the nationals which was intended to reduce cost through a reduction of ranking regattas didn't achieve this aim and had unintended consequences in which it meant that Nationals effectively determined the sailor rankings for the season.

NZL4717 - 2019 Worlds Incident

Disciplinary Statement from NZIODA  

Conduct Committee held a hearing on 4th August with Harrison Loretz in relation to a reported  incident involving him at 2019 Worlds.

Findings:

The Committee found Harrison seriously breached the “NZIODA Sailors Travelling Team Code of Conduct 2019” by directing language at another competitor that was inappropriate and offensive.

Update - White Fleet Information

The introduction of this new fleet as fulfilling two roles:
1 – To be a transitional fleet for sailors that enjoy competitive racing, and 
2 – Allow sailors to continue sailing while enjoying the mate-ship, comradery and social aspects of sailing.

Japan Friendship Regatta – Update

Great (breezy day today with Tom Rebbeck in a very solid top 5 throughout 4 races with a 2nd in the last with building wind and having 17+ kt gusts by days end.
George Cole-Baker very consistent with 6,7,8’s which was commendable in a solid fleet of around 50 Optimist Advance sailors and ahead of other overseas teams.
A great first up race Grace Still in the Laser 4.7 knocking out a 2nd but then a bit of a mixed bag of mid-fleet results for the further 4 races – hiking hard!
