Get your entries in for the Auckland Optimist Champs at Murrays Bay - a three day regatta over Auckland Anniversary weekend, 28th to 30th January 2017, for Open and Green Fleet Sailors. The Auckland Champs is the second of the four Optimist Ranking Regattas for 2016/2017.
The regatta also incorporates the Auckland Starling Champs (a Traveller Series regatta).
3rd & 4th December 2016
The Sir Peter Blake Torbay Regatta is New Zealand's largest and most anticipated annual centre board regatta, and it is always held over the first full weekend of December. Sailed in the superb sailing waters off Torbay, Auckland it hosts the most commonly sailed centreboard dinghy classes. Each event has approximately 450 sailors, and as many as 60 support craft. This regatta is not just another regatta, it's truly unique on the sailing calendar. No other regatta comes close to the size, professionalism, and the experience offered here. It is a must do for any keen sailor.

The 2016 STACK Winter Championships will be hosted by Murrays Bay Sailing Club.
November 4th - 6th
New Plymouth Yacht Club will be hosting the 2016 NZIODA Optimist North Island Championships and Starling regatta.
This will be the first ranking regatta for the 2016/17 season. Normal entries close 31 October, register now.

New Zealand has previously sent a team to this regatta in 2012 and again in 2014. The experience gained from those regattas would suggest that, whilst it was a fantastic experience, it would be perhaps best viewed as an opportunity to experience a different sailing location and culture and use it as a means to build familiarity in traveling internationally to a regatta.
2-9 January 2017
The 2017 GILL Australian and Open Championships will be held at Largs Bay Sailing Club in South Australia on the 2nd - 9th January 2017.
Ravensbourne Boating Club is hosting the 2016 Optimist South Island Championships from Saturday 12th to Sunday 13th March in Dunedin.
This is a two day regatta for Optimist Open sailors and will include a Green fleet if there is sufficient interest.

Clarks Beach Yacht Club have a 3 day regatta on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of January 2016 for all junior and senior center board classes as well as multihulls and trailer sailers.
We pride ourselves on our hospitality and welcome sailors and families to stay on the club grounds, meals are available also.

The 2016 Australian Optimist Championships organising team are putting the final preparation into place for the regatta.
So far we have received just over 120 entries coming from every state and 3 other countries. If you haven't entered yet, it is not too late to enter.
