Willow Park Camp, Eastern Beach, Auckland
15th – 19th January 2018.
The clinic is an annual five-day course run by the NZ International Optimist Dinghy Association. Up to 70 spaces are available (for financial members of NZIODA), with selection based on recent results, performance, and commitment. We expect attendees to be competent fleet racers who have previously contested at least two good sized regattas, ideally the Winter Champs, North or South Island Optimist Champs or National Optimist Championships, Auckland Champs, Winter Champs, Sir Peter Blake Regatta etc.
The clinic is placed from the 15th – 19th January after the Australian Optimist Nationals (3rd – 10th January) and the Tanner & Tauranga Cup (9th – 13th January). The expectation is that the dates for the clinic will provide the opportunity for New Zealand’s top Optimist sailors to attend.
The main aim of the clinic is to improve the skills of all participants during four days of intensive training and activities. We will have a range of New Zealand and International coaches performing the coaching duties under the direction of an appointed Coaching Director.
The venue is the Willow Park Christian Camp, just 50 meters from Eastern Beach near Auckland. Shore based activities, meal times and night supervision is under the direction of an appointed “On-Shore Manager”.
The cost is $395.00 per sailor and this must be paid at time of booking into the clinic. Any outstanding balance of costs is subsidised by NZIODA.
Close-off date for entries is December 8th 2017. Depending on numbers applied, we will aim to provide acceptance (or otherwise) by December 15th 2017. Upon acceptance you will be sent more information and the program for the clinic. Registration can be done online here: http://bit.do/easternbeachclinic
