2019 Qingdao International Optimist Sailing Camp And Regatta

7th - 15th August 2019

Expressions Of Interest to be Sought

New Zealand has previously sent a team to this regatta in 2012, 2014 and again in 2016 and intends to sign an exchange agreement with them for the coming season. The experience gained from past regattas would suggest that, whilst it was a fantastic experience, it would perhaps be best viewed as an opportunity to experience a different sailing location and culture and use it as a means to build familiarity in traveling internationally to a regatta.

The team is limited to 6 sailors and 2 adults. It is suggested, unless a parent is traveling, it may not suit the younger sailors as the conditions were full of new experiences. The regatta is firstly available to sailors other than those who have been selected to represent NZIODA in 2019 Travelling and Development Teams (Worlds, NAMS, Euros, Asians and New Caledonia and Girls Development Teams).

Expressions of interest will be sought after Nationals up till mid June 2019, to be considered for selection. If more than 6 sailors apply final selection will be based off the 2019 National Ranking List.

Details of the regatta as provided by Qingdao Yachting Association are below.

Team manager will be David Clarke davidclarke@zebracrossing.co.nz or phone 027 539 0094 if you are interested in attending and wish to know more.
