We have a few places left in the New Caledonian Opti Clinic and I just want to make sure all those who may be interested or need a wee nudge, do have a good look at it. It really is a great week and very cost effective, sailors who train there have really taken big strides when they come back and there is a wonderful level of hospitality and friendship from the New Caledonians that carries on for years after any visit. Very worthwhile to look at (its not too bad a spot for parents as well!).
The trip is separate to the NZIODA Development Team, they go in December 2014, this is a clinic put on by SRC in Noumea. Included is a regatta, a training clinic and often the chance for a keel boat race.
The dates are 7-14 June or thereabouts as sometimes there are not flights each day. You can choose whether you'd like to do the regatta first up or arrive half way through it or just join for the clinic so a wide range of options. Accommodation options range from a hotel (typically the kiwis stay at Case del Sol) or you can opt for being billeted, in the past some parents have done both just for the experience.
So far we have four definite and two still waiting to confirm - there is a limit of 10 sailors
The cost for the regatta/charter-boat and coach is NZ$450 so good value.
Mark Shapland has kindly offered to coordinate from NZ and you can go directly to him if anyone keen. The commodore is Roland Bone and he is coordinating it all in Noumea.
If I can help out any further please call.
